Poet Laureate Selection Process
The selection committee will select the Albuquerque Poet
Laureate on a consensus basis (i.e., by universal agreement).
The selection committee will include one non-voting member of
the Organizing Committee who will safeguard the consensus process.
The Selection Committee will adhere to the following timeline
and four step process of selection:
1.
The selection committee will receive complete
applications the second week of December and will review all
applications, managing its task in a thoughtful and judicious
manner.
2.
The Selection Committee will meet during the first week of
February to discuss reviewed applications and select, by
consensus, 3-4 finalists to be interviewed.
3.
The Selection Committee will contact finalists and set up times
during the second and third weeks of February to interview each
finalist. Interviews will be reviewed using Scoring Guidelines.
4.
The selection committee will meet during the last week of
February (or upon completion of all interviews) to discuss the
finalists and reach consensus for final selection of the
Albuquerque Poet Laureate and notify all candidates of the
outcome.
